Premium Coco Coir Grow Bags for Commercial Greenhouses
Agricore coco coir grow bags are engineered for professional greenhouse growers who need predictable structure, controlled expansion and dependable drainage season after season.
Key Features
- Uniform Expansion – Progressive hydration produces an even coir profile along the full bag length.
- Reliable Drainage – Designed so water can exit freely and the bag does not sit in standing water.
- Commercial Grade – Built for demanding greenhouse environments and multi-cycle use.
- Crop Versatile – Suitable for tomato, cherry tomato, cucumber, pepper, courgette and other vine crops.
Installation Overview
Install bags on a clean, stable and generally level growing surface. Confirm reliable drainage (especially on suspended-gutter systems). Place bags in straight rows with consistent spacing so each bag can reach its designed hydrated dimensions without pressing against neighbouring bags.
Align emitters with pre-cut planting/dripper holes, or position emitters for even distribution through the coir profile. Always check that drainage openings are clear before full irrigation begins.
Initial Hydration & Expansion
Coco coir expands as it hydrates. Wet the entire medium progressively and uniformly with small, frequent irrigation events rather than a few large saturating events.
- Begin with small, frequent applications.
- Monitor drainage and uniformity of expansion along the bag.
- Increase intervals if excessive drainage occurs before uniform expansion.
- Continue until the bag reaches its intended hydrated shape.
- Keep the substrate consistently moist during stabilisation; avoid unnecessary dry-down.
Water volume (L) ≈ target moisture content × hydrated substrate volume (L). Example only: 0.60 × 20 L = 12 L. Always use final Agricore laboratory specifications for commercial programming.
Rooting & Growing Phase
After planting, use small, frequent shots to establish hydraulic contact between the propagation block and the coir. Adjust shot size and frequency with crop demand, radiation, plant size and water quality—not by a fixed clock schedule alone.
Once roots are established, transition to a crop-demand program. Track irrigation volume, drain volume (and drain EC/pH where applicable), substrate moisture or bag weight, and accumulated radiation. Change irrigation gradually to avoid abrupt wet/dry swings.
Fertigation & Water Quality
Manage with a crop-specific fertigation program based on source-water analysis, coir buffering characteristics and crop stage. Fresh coir can interact with calcium and other cations early on—monitor feed and drain EC/pH closely.
Recommended monitoring: source-water EC/pH · feed EC/pH · drain EC/pH · drain percentage · substrate moisture or bag weight · crop and root response.
Final nutrient recipes should be approved by the Agricore agronomy team for your exact coir blend, water quality and crop program.
Ideal For
- Commercial greenhouses
- Tomato, cherry tomato, cucumber, pepper and courgette production
- Hydroponic and soil-based systems using grow bags/slabs
- Growers who need consistent, professional-grade coco coir media
Technical Note
This is a general commercial reference. Always adapt irrigation and fertigation to the exact Agricore product, crop variety, greenhouse climate, emitter setup, source-water quality and local practices. Product-specific laboratory data and agronomic recommendations take precedence over generic starting values.
